July Meeting

  • Arlington Heights Village Hall 33 South Arlington Heights Road Arlington Heights, IL, 60005 United States (map)

Join us for our monthly meetup of amputees, where we gather to share stories, support, and learn from each other. Whether you're a recent amputee or have been living with limb loss for years, this is a safe space for you to connect with others who understand what you're going through.

GUEST SPEAKER:

We have a special guest speaker for our July meeting - Jay Martin, CP, LP, FAAOP and Founder & CEO of Slingshot Bionics will be joining us @ 7pm to talk about his latest and most advanced socket design called Slingshot Socket.  Jay was invited by NASA to help develop Iron Man-like exoskeleton systems for space and military applications. He transitioned his NASA work into a new way of fitting prosthetics, before reinventing his socket concepts into his latest and most advanced socket design called the Slingshot Socket, an all-fabric socket that conforms to an amputee’s limb.  If you'd like to read more about Slingshot Socket's before next week's meeting - see https://slingshotbionics.com/

Our group is open to all amputees, regardless of age, gender, or type of limb loss. We welcome individuals with congenital limb differences, amputations due to illness or injury, and those who have undergone elective amputations.

Whether you're looking for information, inspiration, or just some friendly faces, our monthly meetup is the place to be. Join us for our next gathering and discover the power of community in the face of adversity.
